If losing weight is one of your New Year’s Resolutions, your morning cup of coffee might help you along to your goal. New research suggests that 4 cups of coffee a day can help shed fat. I know for some people, 4 cups of coffee seem excessive. Depending on your sensitivity to caffeine, this may not be a good option. However, if you are like my husband, more coffee for weight loss is right up your alley.

According to the author of the study Derrick Johnston Alperet a post-doctoral fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, the coffee-fueled fat loss may be the result of a "metabolic reaction," in which caffeine causes the drinker’s metabolism to ramp up. This, in turn, causes individuals to burn more calories.
