Tatiana Debique – Bikini Prep Coach
When I was 15 years old, I immigrated to the United States with my mother and twin sister. We moved to Houston, Texas and expected it to be like in the movies with lots of horses, tumbleweeds, and cowboy hats. Surprisingly, Houston was a bustling city with a huge focus on the Oil and Gas Industry.
Life in Houston took some getting used to. In addition to literally being on the opposite side of the planet, Texas couldn’t be more different to my hometown of Taganrog, Russia. One thing that stayed the same for me was martial arts training. I found a great Tae Kwon Do academy in Houston so that I could continue with the training I started in Russia. It was the only thing that felt normal in a new country where I could barely communicate with those around me.
One day, in true Russian fashion, my mom said “Tatiana, you need to hit the gym.” This was quite a wake-up call for me, especially coming from my mother. But after my first workout, I fell in love. I really enjoyed this new type of training and my body responded quickly.
A few months later, a personal trainer approached me and asked if I had ever competed.I immediately started talking about Taekwondo. He explained that he was referring to bodybuilding, and I was completely unfamiliar with it. So, I went home, did some research, and found the next bodybuilding competition in my area. It was great. I immediately envisioned myself on the stage just like the other athletes. And, soon I was there.
Fitness became my passion.I studied nutrition in college, became an NASM Certified Personal Trainer, as well as an NASM Certified Nutrition Coach, and began my career in bodybuilding – ultimately becoming an IFBB professional.
And, now I get to share my passion and pass along my knowledge and experience. I really enjoy helping others discover the benefits of living a healthy and fit lifestyle.
